Let us first know what is Wetting and Penetrating


Wetting is making sure that every millimeter of crop leaf surface is covered during spraying process with the help of wetting agents and penetrating is taking chemicals to the vital parts of the plant.


Wetting agents are substances that reduce the surface tension of water to allow it to spread drops onto a surface, increasing the spreading abilities of a liquid. Lowering the surface tension lowers the energy required to spread drops onto a film, thus weakening the cohesive properties of the liquid and strengthening its adhesive properties.


There are four types of wetting agents but our area of interest is Nonionic Wetting Agents which do not ionize in water. A possible advantage for using a nonionic wetting agent is that it does not react with other ions in the water, which could lead to formation of a precipitate.


Our product PRIMESIL - 408 Super Wetting Agent reduces surface tension below 22 to 24 dynes/cm, which produces very rapid wetting and spreading on hard-to-wet surfaces such as waxy leaves and acts literally as a Sticker. Thus, complete coverage can be achieved with herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and other agricultural chemicals.

A coating or chemical that is not washed off by the rain is called Rainfast.


A pesticide is considered rain fast after application if it has adequately dried or has been penetrated to leaf stomata structure so that it will still be effective after rainfall or irrigation.


Farmers are often applying products shortly before periods of rain to protect crops against diseases, and the rains comes either before they finish spraying or shortly after they have completed the spraying and chemicals are washed away.


The rainfast period of a crop protection product is the time period after application at which rainfall or irrigation has the least impact on the performance of the product.The use of quality spray Surfactants improve the rainfastness of crop protection products, particularly those products designed to improve the retention, penetration or spread across the plant surface.
